As part of its Good News Mondays program, Rohrer Corporation donated $20,000 to eight different charities last month. Good News Mondays is a program that Rohrer began in the Spring of 2020, at the height of the coronavirus crisis, to build employee morale and positivity at work.
“What started as a program to help employees get excited about coming to work each week or working from home, has lived on as a way to stay connected with our employees and the community,” said Steve Wirrig, CEO of Rohrer Corporation. “The driving force behind Good News Mondays is to make things better for everyone – employees, customers, people affected by COVID-19, and our communities.”
Each employee had the opportunity to vote for a charity that helps people affected by COVID-19 and the votes have been tabulated. The top three charities received the largest donation.
Rohrer made $5,000 donations to the following charities:
• American Red Cross
• Feeding America
• Doctors Without Borders
Rohrer made $1,000 contributions to these charities:
• World Central Kitchen
• Americares
• UNICEF
• Direct Relief
• Goodwill Industries
“It’s great to see how our employees paved the way for Rohrer to support them in giving back to the community at a much-needed time,” said Chris Rautner, Chief Human Resources Officer at Rohrer Corporation.
In response to the donation, Feeding America told Rohrer that its gift arrived at a critical time – the demand is the highest in their 40-year history. And, Direct Relief said Rohrer’s donation will help provide healthcare services for people who otherwise would not have access to needed care, especially during the pandemic.
Other Good News Monday programs have included a variety of employee incentives. Rohrer hosted raffles where employees were eligible to win prizes like smart TVs, drones, or high-end cookware; Rohrer ordered baked goods like king cakes for employees to take home; and other swag included T-shirts, hats, and coolers. Each month it’s something new.
As Rohrer grows and expands, the Good News Mondays program helps support connections across departments, teams, and manufacturing facilities.
